Our dedication to helping individuals in overcoming restrictions, be it pain/injury, sports performance or health, and returning to their passions comes from being in their shoes! In our early 20s, we grappled with various pains, injuries and health concerns from bad backs stopping us from putting shoes on, to shoulder injuries, digestive issues, and severe overtraining that sidelined our active lifestyles. As sport and fitness were some of our biggest passions, this was incredibly frustrating.
It was only made worse when conventional advice offered very little in the way of a solution, often suggesting to “stop lifting weights” or “switch to less demanding sports”. Determined to find answers, we embarked on a journey to become the best Personal Trainers we could be, absorbing knowledge and qualifications from elite coaches and health practitioners, both local and worldwide. Through this, and a lot of trial and error, we not only resolved our own challenges, but also created a system to help others with theirs.
Since then, we have continued to be our own guinea pigs. Navigating the challenges of getting older, continuing to stay in shape and enjoy our sports, whilst juggling ever growing life demands, unavoidable niggles and even worldwide pandemics!
Along the way it also became apparent that trying to help people in the way we wanted was extremely difficult in the commercial gym setting. So, in 2011 we formed aps Coaching and by the end of the year we were working in our first private gym. By 2020 it was time for change, and we made the short journey to our current location in Sonning Eye.
Since opening our first gym, we’ve strived to create an optimal, safe, and welcoming environment.
Our gym is the heart of where everything happens. Kitted out with everything needed to teach you key individualised exercises, ranging from good old floor space to swiss balls, cables, squat racks, kettlebells and assault bikes.
It’s also where we chat about all the other important bits such as nutrition, sleep and mindset. Lastly, it’s a safe space to have the trickier conversations and open up about any challenges you might be facing.
And of course we have bathrooms, changing facilities and car parking right outside.
We take an Exercise centered approach, supported with proven strategies for Rest, Nutrition & Mindset, allowing us to help people all the way from rehabbing injuries or chronic pain, to moving and feeling at their best.
With this unique blend of skills, we can be a bridge from physiotherapy/rehab to the gym, sport and a physically active lifestyle. We bring together the best of many different worlds, simplifying things and helping you to concoct your personal action plan of exercise, movement and health habits to get you where you want to be.
Our approach is ever evolving as we continue to gain experience, striking the balance between incorporating new research and techniques, whilst never straying too far from the tried and tested fundamentals.
With over 30 years spent coaching, we’ve worked with individuals from all walks of life. We know the importance of tailoring your programme to match real world lives. We’re still coaching and learning every day!
