Weekly
Training

Training, coaching, guidance – the full aps experience

  • Your 1-1 sessions are fully guided, eliminating the stress and confusion of planning on your own. Real-time feedback on technique, adapting if something isn’t quite working, and pushing you to work harder, (or slowing down if necessary) gives you exactly the session you need.

  • During sessions, we’ll motivate and encourage you, finding the right balance of intensity (giving you a “kick up the butt” if needed!). This way at least one workout each week will be effective, efficient, and enjoyable—the rest is up to you!

  • Weekly sessions with your trainer help build a great relationship that “snowballs” our ability to support you and progress faster. The better we understand your preferences, feelings, and life circumstances, the more precisely we can tailor our approach.

  • With individualised exercise plans, lifestyle coaching, and support beyond the gym included, our Weekly Training is the most comprehensive product we offer.
  • Seeking dedicated and effective personal training.

OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This can be quite varied as we take an individual approach to each person but roughly it will often cover the following:

  • Your first training session – whether weekly or monthly this first session is very similar. The main objective is to set you up with a new movement plan to be performing when you’re not at aps. This could be a complete workout or just a few additional exercises to slot into your week.
  • We’re likely to address at least one lifestyle habit with you, often one that we’ve already flagged as being useful for your goals and journey. This could be nutrition, rest or mindset related and will involve some tracking (recording workouts, monitoring sleep, keeping a note of what you eat etc). It’s rare we ask you to do more than 1 thing at a time though, so it shouldn’t seem overwhelming.
  • We’ll be checking in via email or txt message to see how things are going and you’re always welcome to ask any questions you might have.
  • If you are coming to aps weekly you will also benefit from going through training sessions with your coach. In the first month you’ll probably do 3-4 full training sessions. 
  • Of course if you’d like to do more training sessions and cover EVEN MORE ground, you can always talk to your coach about training 2 x per week.
  • Throughout the first month we will:
    • Help you start to form supportive habits and learn how to use the basics as well as possible.
    • Get curious about any challenges or non-change and lean into necessary difficult conversations if things get frustrating.

  • After the first month of training you can expect to feel:
    • A reduction in pain (if relevant).
    • More  confidence in your body.
    • Stronger and more mobile.

Medical professionals will typically support you in diagnosis, treatment, and getting back to essential activities. This sometimes isn’t enough to get you back to doing the activities you love, playing sport or being highly active. 

This is where we come in. Our coaching is about taking you from initial treatment to longer term, lasting habits that make you feel confident and joyful about being active again.

We love collaborating and are always happy to coordinate what we’re doing with your medical team.

We recommend about 3-6 months. When dealing with movement and lifestyle habits it can take a bit of time to make the necessary changes and for the body to adjust to them. There is some trial and error to get things right and it’s not uncommon of there to be some setbacks or for life to get in the way a bit. Of course some people get results faster than that and some, especially more complex cases, can take longer. There is no minimum contract length though, so if something isn’t working for you, or if you get your results nice and quick there is no obligation to stay training with us.

After 6 months we’d be hopeful of having you at your goal (as long as the timeframe was realistic) or at least very close. At this point you could choose one of 3 main options:

    • Stop training with aps and continue practising what you’ve learnt by yourself. We’re always here if you need help with anything in the future!
    • Move to a different frequency of training, a lot of weekly clients then move to a monthly pattern of training.
    • Continue training with us! It might be that there are further steps to your goal you want to navigate, you might have a new goal or you might just like us! We have many clients who have been with us for over 10 years!

The biggest benefit of continuing is that we can equip you with a lot of the practical knowledge you’ll need to be able to look after yourself. We won’t be able to cover all the various movement and lifestyle topics in 6 months, but with 12 plus months we can cover enough ground to put you on the path to being your own unique movement expert!

The majority of our coaching is done in person at our gym, but we can also do online sessions in some circumstances. Please contact us for more information.

Our prices range from Free up to £500 per month. It completely depends on the level of support and frequency of training you require. We go through all the details with you at end of your Intro Session once we’ve worked out the best direction for you to head in.
